The Longlist unveiled - 2016 Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards

We're delighted to unveil the 2016 Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards longlist:

Thank you to all who entered their own work or nominated other people's.

Dataviz and infographics are becoming a staple part of our media diet, so no wonder the 2016 Awards has received more entries and nominations than ever before.

Whether it’s rich, complex interactives allowing us to explore Olympic athletic prowess or stark graphics enabling us to grasp who’s most likely to win the US election, visualization helps turn data into something people can see, can feel, can understand.

Discover the outstanding range of creativity by browsing these categories:

Data visualisation - a singular viz (maybe with some slight interaction)

Infographic - multiple visualisations in a single piece

Dataviz project - various type of viz which could make up a website, book or exhibition

Data journalism -  multiple visualisations and copy working together

Interactive - filtering, sorting, manipulation, exploration

Dataviz website - the go-to place for inspiration and new work

Some housekeeping notes

Paid to enter but don't see yourself on the longlist? Your work should be in the 2016 showcase even if it missed out on the longlist - try looking up the title in our search engine. Note that our team may have changed the category of your work, and only paid entries are guaranteed a place on the website showcase.

Still not seeing it? Contact us with a copy of your payment receipt and the name of your work.

Discovered an error, an out-of-date viz that shouldn't have been nominated, or a piece that's lacking a credit? Contact us and we'll do our best to fix.

With relatively few brand-new tools entered this year, we have decided for the time being to withdraw the dataviz tool category. Anyone who entered in this category will be refunded.

What happens next

The longlist will be boiled down to a shortlist; all shortlistees are invited to our London ceremony on Weds 2 Nov or the NYC ceremony on Weds 15 Nov.

From Tues 27 Sep the public and our panel of expert judges will vote on the shortlist via this site.

There are three prizes in each category - gold, ($1,000), silver ($500) and bronze ($250) - plus numerous special prizes and our Most Beautiful award of $5000. All winners receive a trophy.

Feel free to shout if you're longlisted

Has your work made it through? Feel free to @-mention us on Twitter (infobeautyaward) and Facebook - we'll try to RT and share as much as we can.
