Spotlight: Nuclear Legacy

Mashable’s Nuclear Legacy project uses long-exposure photography to visualize lingering radioactivity.

The images depict radiation in officially decontaminated areas at nuclear sites Chernobyl & Fukushima.

The team used an LED rod connected to a Geiger counter to translate analog signal into a light display.

White bars signal background radiation, while orange and red bars indicate high doses of radiation.
