You might think that the phrase “endangered species” only applies to a handful of animals such as Pandas, Orang-utans and the indigenous giant tortoises of the Galapagos islands. The alarming fact that there are actually thousands of different animals currently teetering on the verge of extinction is brought into sharp relief by A Disappearing Planet – a scrollable web visualization by Anna Flagg published on propublica.org a few weeks ago.
