Announcing the 2023 Longlist
The longlist has been announced! Check out the entry showcase to see this year’s entries, including nearly 700 entries that have been selected for the longlist.
We received entries from 52 countries, with just under half (46%) of entries coming from the United States and the United Kingdom. Forty-one percent of showcase entries came from those who identified as early-career. More than half (58%) of showcase entries were submitted by students or members of the public; these submissions did not require an entry fee.
The Awards are a huge effort to run and we are grateful for the support and patience of the community. This year, nearly 20 volunteers have been involved in various aspects of the awards, from judging to communications to program management, including volunteer judges who will be supporting the selection process in the coming months.
What happens next?
Our judges will start reviewing the longlist to create the shortlist which is announced on the week of Sep 20. If your work has made it to the longlist, we will send you an update about your submission regardless if it gets shortlisted or not.
In the meantime, you can nominate an individual or work for the Special Awards. There is no fee required to submit a nomination. Three of the eight special awards are open to nomination by the public. Nominations close Sep 15.

A program at this scale has many associated costs, from back end website work to hosting the Awards Ceremony, and the submission fees only cover some of these costs.
