Music Discoveries by Pradeep Kumar G

The visualization was created using Tableau software, Mapbox, and some of the design elements were created with Figma. The data preparation was done using Tableau Prep. This visualization was created during the Iron Viz 2021 finals. It explores how people discover music by different artist types from around the world. The analysis includes nearly 1,400 top artists (solo and group artists from 20 countries) and their respective music tracks added to Shazam's weekly top charts (Jan 2018 - Aug 2021) in different countries. One notable thing about this visualization is that the artists are grouped based on the pronouns and not on gender. A bitter truth observed from the map is that people discover more music artists of he/him pronouns in almost every country. Click on the region bar chart to filter the viz by artist origin. Also, click on the map to explore music discovery in a specific country. The data was provided by Chartmetric.
