Exploring my intersectionality: A data selfie by NID

This data visualization is an encoded self-portrait. It is an interactive piece of data art that explores the concept of Intersectional feminism and the Matrix of Dominance. Using the metaphor of a Frida Kahlo portrait, I have encoded the data into the painting itself, using glyphs as a medium of representation. Each of the flowers (glyphs) in the data portrait is representative of one woman in my life, who has directly or indirectly influenced me. By varying channels of size, color and number of petals, each of these women gets a unique identity, representing their own unique socio-cultural intersectionality. In doing so, the visualization aims to understand the pattern of dominance in my socio-cultural circle.
