The Biggest Weapon: How Russian Crude Oil shakes European market as Ukraine conflict looms? by University of Miami

This visualization explores how 2022 Russian's invasion of Ukraine would shake European crude oil market as many European countries were reluctant to impose sanctions on Russian oil imports since their national economies would be greatly harmed anyhow.

The piece aims for two parts: how affluent Russia's crude oil is and how dependent European countries are upon Russian crude oil, which help demonstrate the argument that any disruption to the Russian oil supply can change the current market across Europe.

Sources by Eurostat, U.S. Energy Information Administration, and The Global Economy database, the data were mainly processed by Excel and the graphics were designed using Adobe illustrator, Tableau and Flourish.
