Climate Crisis: The four elements shift out of balance by Der SPIEGEL
Four full-page graphics show that no place in the world is safe from the consequences of climate change. Raging Fires devastate huge areas, and even in temperate climate zones, droughts wreck the harvest. In the arctic, polar bears suffers from dramatically shrinking sea ice sheets. A look on human carbon dioxide emissions illustrates the huge effort that needs to be made for preventing the worst.
The data was obtained from various data sources and processed using Python. Some charts were generated using the Altair Python library before being polished in Illustrator.
The four graphics were published in 2020 as part of a special issue on the climate crisis in the German news magazine DER SPIEGEL.
