Charting the careers of the 'Big Four' of batting in men's test cricket by Ben Wylie

In this project, I wanted to compare in detail the careers of four cricketers who are often grouped together as a tier of roughly equally skilled players.

Through the use of small multiples for direct comparison and the focused application of colour, I showed that there is in fact considerable variation in skill within this tier of players — while also challenging the notion of sporting 'skill' as a fixed rather than evolving phenomenon by charting changes in the relevant data over time.
