Amazon cities and the climate by Almeida Studio

This large-scale print infographic commissioned by the NGO Rede Interação and produced with the communities of Santarém, illustrates how urban life relates to climate change.

When we think of climate change we often turn our attentions to deforestation and extreme events, but give less thought to how our own cities are related to this phenomenon.

To illustrate how urban living in northern cities of Brazil is deeply related to climate change, I was invited by Rede Interação to research, write, design and illustrate an educational infographic to be used as a resource in schools and public libraries. The content of the infographic was validated in focus groups held with low-income populations from Santarém, Pará, in the brazilian Amazon.

This project was a part of the VCA (Voices for Climate Action) project.
