Breakup Forensics by Self

Immediately following a cancer diagnosis last year, I was unceremoniously dumped by someone I thought was "the one." Needing to find an answer for what really happened, I started investigating the 'forensics' (clues) during the short relationship. This piece depicts a 4-month relationship in texts, from the first days and being love-bombed by this person to the final breakup message. Each day reads like a clock from 12:00, and the 24hrs of each day start from 12am at the center of the circle. The legend explains how the line segment in each hour represents the frequency and content of messages this person sent me. In whole, the visual summary of our communication, although terminated, helped me validate that my perception of the commitment was backed by the data.
