We, Pacific Women by Silvia Romanelli
This visual provides a glimpse into the lives of women in 8 Pacific Islands States (Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu), and the challenges they face in their access to education and employment opportunities.
It is based on data provided by the Pacific Data Hub.
The layout is designed to invite readers to zoom and explore the different sections, all organically distributed on a path that goes from the top left corner to the bottom right one. It starts with data about young women, then about education and finally employment and work.
In the large, horizontal format, each chart offers a specific, stand-alone analysis, but is also part of the global picture, as all charts are visible at once.
In line with the geographic location of the data, the shapes of the charts and graphic elements are designed to evoke the visual metaphors of wind and waves.
