World in Tangible Fragments by Nadezda Andrianova
Originally, this project began as my participation in the #30DayChartChallenge—a personal attempt to reflect on the world around me. It is a sketchbook, where each page became an opportunity to tell a story through data on topics that resonate deeply with me. But I wanted to go beyond simply translating visualizations onto paper. My idea was to explore the unique possibilities that paper and other materials could offer, to push the boundaries of how data could be represented.
So, I cut, glued, stitched, wove, carved, folded, and even illuminated my creations. I experimented with the physical properties of different materials, searching for the most expressive and unexpected ways to communicate the story behind the data—not in a literal, constrained form, but in a way that evokes emotion and connection. Each page became a small discovery, a tactile exploration of how data can feel alive.
This format—combining data, storytelling, and craftsmanship—feels both unusual and deeply personal to me. It allowed me to look at the world from entirely new perspectives—and sometimes, it felt as though I could reach out and touch it, in both a physical and metaphorical sense.
